[urban fun! | austin engagement pictures]

We had good fun and a long walk scouting out some new downtown locations for pictures. And how lucky am I that I get to photograph their wedding next year!!!

I was a little THRILLED when I opened this one:

I think my reaction upon seeing this wall was near comical. I do pictures in the ally behind it all the time, but never actually turned the corner!

Love this.

And this.

They brought little miss for some family pictures!

Not posed. Just sweet.

How could I NOT get some portraits of her?! I was slightly on the giddy side upon seeing the scarf!

I think we may have a future photographer on our hands here. I asked her where she wanted to lay, and she picked this direction “so that the street isn’t in the background”. Love it!

[urban engagement]

He’s country and rap; she’s not.

She likes horror movies, and he likes everything else.

He’s chemistry; she’s history.

He’s the most amazing thing on the face of the planet to her; he’s just crazy about her. That’s what counts.

I’ve been dying to do a picture here:

Many of my very favorite pictures were taken “in between” shots… like this one:

I’m so glad they showed me this wall! These two were half client, half tour guide for me! It was so fun to finally explore this area of downtown.

I love urban photography because of the vibrant colors, but there’s always room for a little black and white in every session… I think.

Now how lucky am I that these two picked me as their wedding photographer next year?!

[love]

You don’t need to be planning a wedding to have couple portraits taken. You just need to be in love… like these two.

If I remember correctly, these two have been married four years. They’re sweet friends, great thinkers, and humble people. Miranda has a phenominal voice. I just found her site here tonight, and you must check it out!

[i'm still here... and a few downtown]

I apologize for posting so little this week. My son came down with croup cough, and I completed a total of five calligraphy orders in a week (which is a lot).

My son is all better, and yesterday we went downtown for a [literally] fifteen minute TOPS photo session. I should have brushed his hair, given him a bath first, lalala, but I’m not one for perfect pictures. This is who my little boy really is.

Poor kid… his mommy mixes plaid and checkers…

His nonna and papa sent him some cars and quarters, and he opened his package right before we left, so he has them in his little fists or shirt pocket for all the pictures. He’s taking a nap right now, and he fell asleep holding them, too…

Taken by my hubby:

[first urban family session]

In my request to this family, who are dear friends (and our pastor at ACL), I said something like: please be my guinea pigs and don’t expect great things. Not so enticing, but they came along for my first urban family session! So D fam, you guys are precious to us, and I hope you like your family pictures! You get an extra long sneak peek to celebrate my first downtown photo session. By the way, if you’re looking for sewing lessons, this gal has mad sewing skills, and is way to affordable. Check out her site.

The owner of this store saw us taking the above picture and actually brought out these two darling children’s chairs for us to use! So, Kristen from IF+D, you rock!

Yes, I forced them to do this:

I gasped when I saw this wall… is it not awesome?!

I thought of this myself… not really. It’s was Robie’s idea. :D
